Solid value on breakfast, best on the beach $ for $. Nice dinner and drink specials. Decor is not top notch, but again this is the beach.

If you want decent food or service go elsewhere. An order of 2 mahi sandwiches and two pancake orders took about 45 minutes to prepare. Kids pancakes had grill residue from blackened fish infusing them. Slow service, high prices & bad food. If you want to smoke like a chimney and drink cheap drinks this place is for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

Had breakfast here this morning it was very good. Best eggs benedict I've had in years. Hubby had the cornbeef has it can stand up to anyones. I was not a fan of the coffee but the place is nice.

The blackened grouper sandwich was served on a toasted everything bun. This sandwich was the highlight of our trip to the beach. Wow! We ate inside at the bar, and the bartenders were attentive and friendly. We returned for breakfast, which was good too.

We base our vacation on this place. We love it so much. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

Went here last night while in town. Service wasn't great but I had read other reviews saying the same. I ordered the ceaser salad with ahi tuna and asked rare but I knew the server who said she was new put in medium rare. It was still good tho. The clam chowder was good and my fiancé ordered the shrimp wrap which she enjoyed. Good price and good food not so much the service.

We came in for breakfast today for the first time, although some friends in our party had been here a year earlier. It may have just been a bad day for them, but here is what we experienced: ~the coffee creamer was separated into cream and water and left white particles in the coffee. Our waitress assured us they didn't require refrigeration (true) and that we should just shake them before using (false--these were bad). ~buttermilk biscuit tasted and smelled like spoiled buttermilk ~French toast was very "eggy", with big pieces of egg having cooked on to the toast. The strawberry add on was a canned goop and not fresh strawberries. ~eggs Benedict sauce was too think and custardy ~ the grits were undercooked and without flavor (including no salt) The waffle had We ate 25% of our food and politely let our waitress know about the biscuits and asked for the bill. She said we were the first to complain about the food quality there! Don't believe that for an instant.

We are new to the area and hoped that this would be a great place for a quick bite, and a place we could go to weekly. We went this week for the first time. Yikes! We were sadly disappointed and won't be going back. The place hasn't seen a bit of attention since 2009. It appears that the owner was doing some neat things and making a name for himself around that time, but it appears that all fizzled out, and the place has had nothing done to it, since at least 2009. There is no air conditioning so be prepared for that and maybe you like eating at their outside bar which is quaint, but if are looking for a cool place to eat inside - don't go here. The Screwie Louie shrimp were the only item that was liked by us. The barbecue sauce has a really peculiar smell/taste. Maybe like it was worstershire sauce drowned with celery salt. Ugh. Not the place for pulled pork. Our other food left you with a sense that it was old. That might have gone with the fact that there were almost no customers, so you had a sense that they weren't exactly selling a lot of food. The server was also interesting in how they tried to steer and influence us in what to order and not order. They seemed completely sincere, but clearly tried to get us to order items that were apparently better. Very disappointing.

If you've ever walked by and glimpsed inside the kitchen you'll realize why it takes forever to get food out..ITS TINY. The food here use to be decent but now it all tastes mostly frozen. This is a beach bum or biker kind of place. Used to be great...not so much anymore.

NOT RECOMMENDED!! My husband and I made the mistake of eating here after arriving to our condo on our first day of vacation. We both had hamburgers and a few hours later became VERY sick - we were unable to leave the condo for anything for the next 24 hours and it took us 4 days to feel up to enjoying our time in Madeira beach or even eating much of anything else. Shortly after our recovery we spoke to some locals that warned us not to eat here - wish we had heard their advice sooner!

While visiting Clearwater during the July 4th weekend, my husband and I cruised over to the beaches to seek out a decent place for dinner. Luckily he was in a seafood mood as that is pretty much all that is served on that particular coastal strip we were on. Every seafood restaurant we passed was filled to the rafters with diners, some spilling out onto the sidewalks. When we passed Screwy Louie's/South Beach Grill and saw that it was only half full, we were a little hesitant about going inside but on the other hand, we were thrilled to find a place where we could be seated. So we took the plunge and went in. On the surface, the South Beach Grill looks like a rough biker dive. A sign on the railing outside the door boasts that it was voted as serving the Best Breakfast by a local publication. (They offer a 99 cent "build your own breakfast" in the mornings.) We chose to sat inside, which looked as rough as the outside but was comfortable, despite some occasional drippings from the a/c vents on the ceiling. Watch where you sit. There were several specials that day. I chose the Rainbow Trout special with two sides for $11.99. I had the mashed potatoes and green beans. The trout was perfectly cooked, tender and perfectly flavored with lemon butter. The mashed potatoes were just okay (could have been warmer) and the green beans were excellent. Overall, a delicious offering at a bargain price. This is not part of their regular menu but I am hoping that if enough people like it, it will become part of their everyday offerings. My husband had the Friday fish fry special for $9.99 which included several large portions of fried cod and haddock along with some very tasty fries. He declared it was the best seafood he has had recently and would order it all over again next time we visit. He also had a beer which came in a small plastic cup. We were surprised that a bar would serve beer in plastic disposable cups but he enjoyed it nonetheless. If you like decent seafood, don't be put off by the exterior. Give Screwy Louie's/ South Beach Grill a shot.

The only thing this place has going for it is the view! Very nice view. The drinks are okay, I ordered a Mai Tai and it came in a little plastic cup with 3 ice cubes. Not exactly what I was expecting. It was tasty though for the price, which was happy hour prices during the day. Their menu, needs to be revamped and is blase' bar and grill menu. Nothing exciting here.. I was extremely disappointed in their menu, and was expecting something more considering that it was a great beach bar with a view. I reluctantly ordered some Peel and Eat Shrimp, and after waiting 45 minutes for it, I was extremely disappointed they were overcooked, and tasted like wood timber. Ick. To add to the insult of bad view, but okay drinks. The waitress decided that she would like to PAW at me. Every time she stopped by the table, she would rub herself against me, which was extremely unnerving, considering I like MEN not WOMEN. I reduced her tip because of this. Bad food, okay drinks and being pawed at by waitresses, is not my cup of tea.

I really wanted to like this place and have it become my local "hangout" as I lived just a few blocks away. I had no problems with any food or drinks that I ordered. We used to eat breakfast there regularly because we worked graveyard shift at a hotel and Screwy's was on the way home. You can "build your own breakfast" for very reasonable prices. But, we found their staff to be totally unfriendly, give or take a waitress or two. Despite going in there regularly, and leaving decent tips ($5.00 for a $10 tab, always 20% or more), never once did anyone so much as ask our name, if we were visiting or lived there, etc. I would think a local place would be want to cultivate new business so that when the winter crowd leaves, you still have regulars to keep you going. I mean, we went there 4-5 times a week for breakfast, and sometimes during the day for happy hour. To not even know a regular customer's name? Jeez. And it's not like we caused trouble. We sat quietly, ate or drank, and left. Period. I don't know who the owners are but I've seen some guys in there who look like they could be owners. Surly, unfriendly types. Once, and only once, I had to send an order back because it wasn't even my order. I saw a cook pop his head out to glare at me in disgust, and then return to the kitchen. When my order came out, I decided I didn't want to eat it, after that display. There were a couple of waitresses we really liked but unfortunately they weren't often there when we were but we always made a point to sit with them when possible. I like the concept, I like the prices, I like the atmosphere. But the coldness of the staff was a turnoff. We have since taken our business elsewhere. Maybe we expect too much, but we enjoy giving uur money to places where "everybody knows your name."

Good location, right next to our hotel. Stopped in for breakfast and $2.00 mimosas. Breakfast was pretty basic, good, and waitress was friendly.

Food was inconsistent. Peel and eat shrimp were okay, but Cuban and prime rib were subpar. The prime rib didn't taste like prime rib. The salads were nice, and large. The tuna sashimi was nice.

Way slow service and mediocre food. Too many other good places to go to burn time here.

"have you been here before?" means "Do you have cash?" thankfully we scrounged up enough to pay the bill, Partially due to the reasonable prices. This place is screwie louie's. Same place. Two names. Today had the pulled pork. It was great. Only 5.99 and I could only eat half.yesterday had the giant seafood plate. 24.99. It was great. Leftovers were good reheated too. they cut the sausage so it looks like little octopi

I live right around the corner so I like to eat breakfast here. You can build your order for 99 cents each item. The service isnt the best but if you sit at the bar, its better. Plan on hangin out for a little while if not.

While this place is off-putting in the respect that it first appears like a motorcycle hangout, it's really kind of a fun place. I wanted to come because of the breakfast and I wasn't disappointed. Our waitress was delightful and almost dared me to order the house Bloody Mary which had three shots of premium vodka and an interesting assortment of tasty items (the pepperoni was great!) as an accompaniment. It was a darned good drink too, although I was glad I wasn't driving. Since we were having breakfast, I decided to try a little of everything...and everything was really quite good. When I order two eggs over easy, I want them cooked perfectly...and these were perfect! The ham was especially delicious, the hash browns were proper hash browns with good flavor but hardly a hint of oil. My wife's biscuits and gravy were also excellent, clearly the sausage gravy not coming from a can and the biscuits were light and fluffy. In addition, the coffee was very good. For the price, we were both blown away (maybe it was the three shot drink!) and I would return in a heartbeat to try more things on the menu. It wasn't fancy, but what there was of it was very well prepared and cared for. We liked the outside patio more than the eclectically decorated interior. When you see it, you'll understand.

South Beach Bar and Grill is also called Screwy Loui's. It's the same place. This place is a hole. The only thing it has going for it is the fact that they offer happy hour drink specials all day long until 6. The food is mediocre, really hit or miss. My girlfriend and I fell ill after eating breakfast here. When we came for dinner the previous night, we inquired about their seafood. We wanted to know where the clams and fish came from. Every question we had was met with a "I don't know" by their waitstaff. They would ask the kitchen for us, but they became very annoyed that they had to do this. If you are working as a server or bartender in an establishment, you should know about the food. Instead, they think they are supposed to be there to look pretty (which they most certainly failed at as well). None of their clams or shellfish are local, so they all come frozen from the west coast or other places. They advertise as having the "Best Breakfast in Mediera Beach". WRONG! We had a 5 star experience @ The Frog Pond, which is about 10 minutes up the road. The Bottom Line: Avoid this place unless you are just thirsty. You can save yourself a stomach ache.
